New Powers of Attorney booklet available

Creating a power of attorney is one way that individuals can plan for the future. To help the public explore their options, the Public Legal Education and Information Service of New Brunswick (PLEIS-NB) is pleased to announce the publication of a revised “Powers of Attorney” booklet.  The enclosed booklet describes the different kinds of powers of attorney, explains how to set them up and explores some advantages of creating powers of attorney to deal with property and financial matters and/or personal care.

The new booklet integrates the information from two existing booklets, namely, Powers of Attorney and Powers of Attorney for Personal Care.  The latter booklet will no longer remain in print. Printed in a large font, readers will no doubt enjoy the plain language presentation and colourful new design of the booklet.

PLEIS-NB gratefully acknowledges the assistance of the Office of the Public Trustee and members of the Law Society of New Brunswick, in the development of this updated booklet.

The new booklets are currently being distributed to libraries, senior organizations, nursing homes, community agencies, hospitals and other places where the public can access them.  If you are interested in obtaining copies, please contact us at pleisnb@web.ca.
