Helping New Brunswickers Know the Law

 Law Day 2016

On April 17, 1982, Queen Elizabeth II and Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau signed the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms (, thereby guaranteeing fundamental rights and freedoms for all Canadians.  In honour of this milestone, the Canadian Bar Association introduced Law Day in 1983 as a means to commemorate the event and educate the public about the legal system.  Law Day is a time for the public to learn about the law, the legal profession and some of the legal institutions that form the cornerstones of our Canadian democracy.
