Video for Youth Victims of Crime - You Are Not Alone: Be supported through difficult times

In 2007-2008, the Department of Public Safety, Victim Services Program partnered with PLEIS-NB to create a short bilingual video (DVD)  and other resources to help teens and their parents better understand the dynamics of victimization and the various supports and services available from the Victim Services Program, Public Safety, when a youth victim participates in the criminal justice system.

The 2007-2008 phase of this multi-year project saw the establishment of a management and advisory committees and the development of the script, which included field-testing both the English and French scripts with youth.  The Advisory Committee is made up of representatives from Department of Public Safety Victim Services, Fredericton Police Force, Office of the Attorney General, and the Department of Education.

The DVD, called You are not Alone: Be supported through difficult times, was launched at a reception on November 27, 2008. The video is being used by Victim Services Coordinators

In collaboration with Victim Services, we recently produced a parent’s guide to help them support their child/youth who is the victim of a crime. The third phase of the project is the development of a pamphlet for youth and evaluation of the video and guide.
